Carlo Ferrara | Regolatore Quadro | CFQ-05409 | | Sold | est. 2000 | Watch Only | 36x41mm | Dress Watch | Automatic

The defining feature of the Carlo Ferrara Regolatore Quadro is its unique time display. It is not a traditional regulator. Instead, it features a patented "dancing" or "sliding" hand mechanism. The hour and minute hands do not rotate on a central pivot but instead travel along separate, independent arced tracks. This system, which reportedly took six years to engineer, involves a complex module of cams and levers built upon a base Swiss automatic movement (often an ETA 2892-A2).

Carlo Ferrara was an independent Italian watchmaker and designer who founded his brand in the 1990s. The company, which blended Italian design with Swiss manufacturing, was based in Rome. Ferrara was known for one significant and patented complication, which became the brand's signature. The company ceased operations after Carlo Ferrara's death in 2012, making its timepieces relatively rare.
